4-day Arm River to Lake St Clair walk, October 2009 |
|
This four day guided walk starts at Arm River near lake Rowallen. We then walk along the Innes track and join the Overland Track heading south to Lake St Clair, all located within Cradle Mounatin - Lake St Clair National Park and Tasmania's World Heritage area. Stay each evening in private huts with hot showers, twin share rooms and delicious meals with Tasmanian wines. Our first day explores the base of Mount Oakleigh and the Southern shore of Lake Ayr before reaching the beautiful expanse of Pelion Plains which provides views north to Cradle Mountain. On the second day we climb to Pelion Gap where there are great views both back to the north and forward to the south. For those who are keen there is an option to climb Tasmania's highest peak, Mt Ossa. By the third day the landscape changes dramatically as we enter majestic forests and discover beautiful waterfalls. Wander through some of the oldest forests in the National Park with King Billy Pines as old as 2000 years. Then on the final day our walk takes us through cool temperate eucalypt forest, surrounded by bird song, as we descend to Lake St Clair - Australia's deepest natural lake shaped by glaciers. Enjoy a spectacular 17km cruise across the Lake. Price $1,750 per person, including:
