Early in August, the Federal Tourism Minister, Martin Ferguson and SA Tourism Minister Jane Lomax-Smith dropped by Wilpena Pound for a cuppa and to launch the Flinders Ranges’ inclusion in the National Landscapes program.

The Flinders Ranges is one of Australia’s nine National Landscapes in a Tourism Australia program to promote and conserve Australia’s natural wonders.

Dr Lomax-Smith said the Flinders Ranges showcases the best of the authentic Australian bush. “The Flinders Ranges’ magnificent peaks, vast plains, tree-lined creeks and abundance of wildlife make it one of South Australia’s most popular and spectacular tourist destinations. The Flinders Ranges now sits alongside Kangaroo Island, Kakadu, Red Centre Way, the Great Ocean Road, Australian Alps and the Blue Mountains, among other regions.

Tourism Australia have put up a fantastic website on the Flinders – the Pound is on the front page - check it out at
